MUMBAI: The body of Richard Khear, a trekker from Mumbai, retrieved by the army on Sunday after a week's search in the Miyar Valley in the Himalayas where he had fallen into a gorge while rapelling, will be laid to rest at St Joseph Church in Wadala, his native place here.
The 28-year-old Richard Khear fell into the gorge while attempting to scale Castle Peak in Lahaul-Spiti on August 29.
The trekking enthusiast Khear worked as a security officer with Pest Control of India and also was a teacher at the department of journalism at Mumbai
University.
The Girivihar Mountaineering Club, of which Richard Khear was a member, has mourned Khear saying, "We are sorry to inform you that our member, Mr. Richard Khear, who suffered a fall in the Miyar Valley last week, is no more. His body was retrieved by the Indian Army. May his soul Rest In Peace."
Girivihar is an adventure club in Mumbai promoting sports like trekking, mountaineering, rock climbing, skiing, cycling, children camps and outdoor activities. It is doing advanced pursuits of rock climbing and high altitude trekking in the Himalayas and mountaineering expeditions to Himalayan peaks.
Khear was also a part of Don Bosco Hikers' Club.
