London: Famous fashion retailer Zara is set to foray into India with its first outlet being launched in Delhi. The
Spanish parent company of the fashion brand Inditex, has tied-up with the Tata
Group for its India venture this is in line with regulations regarding foreign
entrants into the Indian marketplace. The rapidly growing fashion industry in
India and the heightened fashion consciousness amongst the affluent provide a
perfect backdrop for Inditex's ongoing global expansion. "Zara's arrival in India
- the world's second most populous country, with 1.1 billion inhabitants - represents
a new milestone in the Inditex Group's expansion in Asia," the BBC quoted the
group, as saying. Inditex said Asia now accounted for 12% of its group-wide sales.
It already has outlets in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. |
