March 28, 2010 | Models sizzle in designer Kiran Uttam Ghosh's creations at WLIFW |
New Delhi:Top models sizzled the ramp at ongoing 15th edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WLIFW) Autumn-Winter 2010 here on Saturday. Based on the post-American modernism,
Kiran Uttam Ghosh showcased her designs with models depicting abstract artwork
of that era. The collection was offered in essentially black with brown and white
colour along with a patchwork of bright colours. "It was actually based on post-American
modernism. It is called abstract-expressionistic art. It took weighing in America
in the post World War-II, which was in the late 1940s and flourished in early
1960s and it was just abstract art. You have a canvas, you take what you want
to do with it and actually put New York on the map of the art world, which till
now existed only in Paris. So that is what inspired me. That's when I looked into
the few pictures of modern art from that period, which just inspired me," said
Ghosh. The WLIFW-AW 2010, hosted by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI),
will witness the participation of 130 designers, 75 of them also presenting shows
and among whom 19 are debutants. The fashion extravaganza will feature 43 shows. |
