Nevada(US): In a remarkable interfaith gesture, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed explained in a Christian church in Nevada (USA) on October 23 and 24 what Hinduism had to offer. Participating in a panel discussion at Summit Christian Church
in Sparks, Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, talked about the
concept of God, life after death, scriptures, etc., in Hinduism. Rajan Zed quoted from
ancient Hindu scripture Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord) and explained that
physical death was not considered
final in Hinduism and Self acquired a new body when it was worn out. Other
participants
in the discussion included Jewish Rabbis Anne Persin and Teri Appleby, Muslim
Imam Abdulrahim Barghouthi, Rick Lund of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, and theology professor Dr. David Timms. Steve Bond, Senior Pastor of the
Summit Christian Church, who acted as moderator, said that this discussion was
organized to help wrestle the question “Are all religions the same?” Theme-line
of Summit Christian Church, a non-denominational church launched in 1998, is
“Love
God, love people, serve others”. Its beliefs include: Bible is the inspired Word
of God; God is one; Jesus Christ is true God and true man; People are created
in the image of God but are separated from God by sin; etc.
