HYDERABAD, Jan 16: In view of the propaganda against its covid vaccine, Bharat Biotech, which developed the vaccine, called Covaxin, in collaboration with the ICMR and has received the purchase order from the Govermment after having been cleared by the drug regulator, has offered compensation to recipients who develops serious side-effects after the vaccination.
The consent form to be signed by the vaccine recipients says, "In case of any adverse events or serious adverse events, you will be provided medically recognised standard of care in the Government-designated and authorised centres and hospitals. The compensation for serious adverse event will be paid by sponsor (BBIL) in case if the SAE is proven to be causally related to the vaccine."
Phases 1 and 2 clinical trials had proven its safety and ability to produce antidotes against covid, the company said. However, the Phase 3 clinical trials are still on to further establish its efficacy.
"It is important to appreciate that receiving the vaccine does not mean that other precautions related to COVID-19 need not be followed," the manufacturer said. Covaxin is India's totally indigenous covid vaccine.
