BENGALURU, Jan 9: Several Karnataka schools have been closed again as 50 teachers and several students tested positive for coronavirus early this week. Sources said the number could be higher. The schools which had reopened in the State after lockdown on January 1 were mostly Government schools.
Hassan, Belagavi, Chitradurga, Gadag, Chikkamagaluru, Koppal were the affected districts. All the schools where the cases have been detected have been sanitised and those found positive for covid have been sent into quarantine. The students who attended the classes of teachers who tested positive for covid have also been told to quarantine themselves.
Classes had started for Std VI to pre-university on January 1. All classrooms were sanitised and the students were asked to follow the covid guidelines like wearing the face mask and frequent hand wash.
The attendance after reopening in Bengaluru was 50%, Uttara Kannada 83%, Udupi 81%, Bidar 34% and Bengaluru North 36%.
