Trump supporters storm US Capitol: 4 die in firing, violence
Trump's men stormed the Capitol on Wednesday afternoon and rampaged through the chambers as the joint session to certify the presidential election results began.

WASHINGTON, Jan 6: One woman protester was shot dead inside the House of Representatives chamber by the police and three others died in violence when Trump's men demanding to reject the presidential election results stormed the Capitol where the Congress session had begun to certify the electoral votes from the States on Wednesday afternoon.

The Capitol police resorted to firing and teargassing when the protesters carrying weapons like batons and spears breached the Capitol. They broke open the glass windows (image-4), entered the offices and the chambers and ransacked Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office and occupied her chair. Pistols are also seen in images being pointed at intruders from inside the Senate chamber by policemen. They were menacingly forcing their way in. Inside the House they were seen celebrating the mayhem. The DC request for National Guards was initially turned down by Trump's Defence department.

The Senators and Representatives who were debating in their respective chambers the objections to the electoral votes from Arizona after adjourning the joint session, were rushed upstairs for safety in face covers for protection against the teargass enveloping the chambers.

The joint session of the Congress had begun with Vice-President Mike in the chair and when tellers read out the results of Arizona (States are taken up alphabetically), Republicans raised objections. Thereafter, as per rule, Pence adjourned the session for the Senate and the House to meet separately and debate the issue and vote in their respective chambers. The mayhem broke out at this point and lasted till after 4 pm (local time).

After about six hours of clean-up, the Congress session resumed, may be on assurance from the Pentagon and the Justice Department. The electoral results were certified.

Dem Joe Biden had secured majority, defeating incumbent President Trump, as per the results from the States, which the Congress had to certify for the winner to take the White House on January 20 as per the Constitution.

After the declaration of the results by the joint session, finally, Trump said in a statement: "Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th."
