KOLKATA, Jan 4: BCCI president and former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who underwent angioplasty after he suffered a heart attack on Saturday while working out at his gym at home in his Behala residence in Kolkata, had an "uneventful" night, the Woodlands Hospital said in its medical bulletin on Monday morning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday afternoon phoned him to inquire about his health.
Ganguly, 48, was diagnosed with sclerosis (congestion or narrowing of arteries due to plaque deposits) in three coronary arteries and underwent angioplasty at 3.00 pm on Saturday at Woodlands.
According to doctors he had discomfort in the chest and had vomited while doing workout at home before reaching the hospital in the afternoon. He had suffered a mild myocardial infarction. Soon after reaching the hospital, angioplasty was done in one artery.
The medical opinion is that he may have to undergo further procedures and a call on that will be taken soon in consultation with the country's top heart surgeons, possibly on Monday itself.
He has no comorbidities and had tested negative for coronavirus. However, he has a history of cardiac problem in his family, it was stated.
