Malaysia's Difficult Date With Sex-laden VCD KUALA LUMPUR: "Scandals are rampant everywhere. No one wants to talk about scandals openly though we know of their existence." It was with this theme that a package called Skandal-I was recently started. But this is not the only reason why the package is making news. Produced by Excellence Status, the package, which began operation three months ago, comprises a magazine focussing on scandals and a steamy VCD, which is causing quite a stir in Malaysia. The VCD features a 74-minute movie, also named Skandal-I, starring top model and actress Nasha Aziz, who plays a social escort and gets involved in scandalous pursuits with VIPs and corporate figures. However, according to a report in the Straits Times, the film includes several sexy scenes, forcing it to run into rough weather vis-a-vis the Censor Board. "There were many steamy scenes that were axed. The ones that we see now are the tame ones that have gone through the Censorship Board. However, it would disrupt the flow of the movie if all the scenes that are considered sexy are snipped off," said Executive Producer of the package, Azamuddin Abdul Rahim. Priced at eight dollars (Singapore), the colourful glossy Skandal-I has so far sold at least 14,500 copies of the magazine and VCD, according to Rahim. There is also a plan to bring out a sequel very soon, called Skandal-II, he added. "The movie is just a general story about scandalous affairs of social escorts and successful businessmen. We decided to do a tele-movie on this subject because we see and read about it almost every day. However, we do not intend to reveal or expose the true stories of any individual," he explained. The magazine, which comes free as an added attraction to the VCD, also features articles and true confessions of those who had illicit affairs, besides giving tips to husbands and wives who are in the same predicament.
