Khooni Darwaza (Gate of Death)
|
|
In
1857, during the revolt against the British masters, Captain Hudson
of the East India Company arrested the three princes of the Mughal
royal family - Mirza Mughal, Khij Sultan and Mirza Abubakar -
from the Humayun tomb in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi on Sept
22. He later reached this spot where the princes were kept. Large
crowds thronged the place. Fearing that the agitated people might
rescue the princes, the captain got the princes stripped bare
above the waist and shot them one by one.(Khooni means murderer
or murderous or blood-soaked) |
